IIT Madras and Indian Railways Unveil India’s First Hyperloop Test Track

Date:

IIT Madras, in collaboration with Indian Railways, has successfully developed India’s first hyperloop test track, marking a significant milestone in the country’s transportation sector. This cutting-edge transport system aims to drastically reduce travel time between Bengaluru and Chennai, slashing the journey to just 30 minutes.

The hyperloop technology involves passenger pods traveling through low-pressure tubes at speeds exceeding 1,000 km/h, far outpacing traditional modes of transportation like expressways, high-speed trains such as Vande Bharat, and even commercial flights. This groundbreaking innovation is set to revolutionize long-distance travel and could be a game-changer for the future of transportation in India.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the importance of such collaborations between government bodies and academic institutions in advancing transport solutions. On social media platform X, Vaishnaw shared his thoughts, stating, “Collaboration is driving innovation in the transportation sector.”

This development not only brings India closer to implementing next-gen transportation but also positions the country as a potential global leader in hyperloop technology.
