Karnataka BJP MLC Chalavadi Narayanaswamy Criticizes MK Stalin and Responds to KCBC’s Request on Waqf Amendment Bill

Date:

Bengaluru, Karnataka – Karnataka Legislative Council Leader of Opposition (LoP) and BJP MLC Chalavadi Narayanaswamy criticized Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin for continuing to raise the issue of Hindi imposition, despite multiple assurances from central leaders that Hindi would not be forced on any state.

“Many a time, central leaders have confirmed that we are not going to force Hindi on anybody. Still, he (Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin) wanted to go on with the same issue,” Narayanaswamy stated. He further accused Stalin of viewing Tamil Nadu as the sole representation of India, saying, “Stalin is thinking that only Tamil Nadu is India.”

Narayanaswamy also addressed the ongoing debate around Dravidian identity, clarifying that Dravidian is a culture, not a caste. “Dravidian is a culture, it is not a caste. But Dravidians are not against Indian culture. That is also Indian culture,” he emphasized. He accused Stalin of attempting to create division within the country by politicizing Dravidian identity, claiming that Stalin wanted to divide the nation “in the name of Dravidians.”

On the Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council’s (KCBC) request to Kerala MPs to support the Waqf Amendment Bill, Narayanaswamy expressed his indifference, stating, “That is their decision… Whatever our Government has decided, it will go on.” He also dismissed the idea of religious reservation, asserting, “There is no religious reservation… This is all created by the Congress party to please them.”

Narayanaswamy’s comments reflect the BJP’s stance on national unity, regional identity, and the party’s position on the Waqf Amendment Bill, further reinforcing the central government’s commitment to its policies and decisions.
