PM Modi Meets Bangladesh Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus on Sidelines of BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok, Thailand, today. The bilateral discussion between the two leaders focused on strengthening the ties between India and Bangladesh across various sectors, including trade, connectivity, and regional cooperation.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi and Chief Adviser Yunus explored opportunities to enhance economic collaboration, promote people-to-people exchanges, and advance mutual development goals. They also underscored the importance of deepening bilateral cooperation within the framework of BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation), a regional organization that includes both nations, alongside several others.

In their exchange, both leaders emphasized the significance of connectivity, with a particular focus on improving infrastructure and trade linkages. They discussed expanding regional transport networks and addressing challenges related to cross-border trade and security.

Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s support for Bangladesh’s growth and development, recognizing the strong and enduring partnership between the two countries. Chief Adviser Yunus expressed Bangladesh’s appreciation for India’s ongoing assistance in key areas such as energy, infrastructure, and capacity building, which has played a pivotal role in fostering bilateral ties.

The meeting also allowed the two leaders to align on regional and global issues, further enhancing the collaboration between India and Bangladesh in regional frameworks like BIMSTEC, which aims to foster economic integration and connectivity among countries in the Bay of Bengal region.

This meeting is seen as another step towards solidifying the relationship between the two neighboring nations, ensuring continued cooperation in regional and international matters for the betterment of their peoples.
