Karnataka BJP Chief BY Vijayendra to Lead Delegation to Maddur, Questions State Govt Over Police Role in Violence

Date:

Bengaluru, Karnataka: BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra on Monday announced that a party delegation will visit Maddur on Tuesday to assess the situation following recent violence.

Speaking to the media, Vijayendra said he would be accompanied by senior leaders including R. Ashoka, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, C.N. Ashwathnarayan, and others. “Tomorrow, at 10 or 10:30 AM, we will visit Maddur to review the situation,” he stated.

Criticising the state government’s handling of the incident, the BJP chief raised several questions regarding the withdrawal of cases against those accused of violence. “The cases against anti-national elements who pelted stones at a police station and set it on fire have been withdrawn. Why were senior police officers not present when thousands of Hindu activists participated in the Ganesha immersion procession in Maddur? Did the police have no information? Why were some people allowed to enter a mosque? Why did the government create such an opportunity?” he asked.

The BJP has accused the Congress-led government of compromising law and order and appeasing certain groups at the cost of public safety. The visit by the BJP delegation is expected to escalate the political standoff between the ruling and opposition parties in Karnataka over communal tensions and police accountability.
