BJP Leaders PC Mohan and Chalavadi Narayanaswamy Slam Karnataka Government Over Pothole Crisis in Bengaluru

Date:

BJP leaders intensified their criticism of the Karnataka government on Tuesday during a visit to KR Pete, highlighting the worsening pothole problem in Bengaluru and accusing the Congress-led administration of negligence and corruption.

Karnataka Legislative Council Leader of Opposition and BJP MLC Chalavadi Narayanaswamy pointed to the city’s crumbling infrastructure while rebuking Congress leaders for making misleading statements. “D. K. Shivakumar is saying that there is a pothole even near the residence of the Prime Minister. These Congress leaders are always telling lies. Bengaluru is an important place, so we have to target it. We have to clean Bengaluru and maintain its neatness. The roads should be good,” Narayanaswamy said, stressing the need for urgent repairs and better maintenance of the city’s roads.

Echoing these concerns, BJP MP from Bengaluru Central, PC Mohan, accused the state government of failing to allocate adequate resources to the city. “This is the most corrupt government in the country. For the last 2.5 years, this government has not released any funds to Bengaluru Mahanagara (the former municipal corporation for Bengaluru). Since we wanted to protest here, they have built up some potholes. What they have built up today will come out within a week,” Mohan alleged.

The leaders’ visit to KR Pete was part of a larger BJP campaign to spotlight Bengaluru’s road safety concerns, which have been exacerbated by heavy rains and inadequate civic planning. Residents have long complained about dangerous potholes causing accidents and traffic disruptions, with opposition leaders demanding immediate government action to address the crisis.
