PM Modi Inaugurates ₹34,200 Crore Projects in Bhavnagar, Boosting Coastal Economy

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched development projects worth ₹34,200 crore in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, aimed at strengthening India’s coastal economy and industrial base. The new projects cover port modernization, industrial connectivity, and infrastructure upgrades, which are expected to open up large-scale employment and investment opportunities.

Speaking at the event, Modi highlighted how Bhavnagar has historically been a hub for maritime activity and ship recycling. He emphasised that the new developments will make Gujarat a model of economic growth while aligning with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

PM Modi also noted that India’s maritime sector contributes 10% to global trade, setting an ambitious goal of tripling this share by 2047. He said the Bhavnagar projects represent a blueprint for India’s next-generation port and shipping reforms, including green shipping, coastal trade, and private participation.

He added that these projects would also strengthen Gujarat’s role in making India a global maritime power, while creating thousands of jobs across industries.
