Bengaluru: CT Ravi Stresses Strict Compliance With Aviation Safety Norms Amid IndiGo Flight Disruptions

Date:

BJP leader CT Ravi on Monday weighed in on the recent IndiGo flight disruptions, stressing that aviation safety rules must be followed without exception. Speaking in Bengaluru, he highlighted that the safety of passengers cannot be compromised and that all airlines are bound by the same regulatory framework.

Ravi pointed out that air travel operates under stringent national and international norms designed to ensure safe flying conditions. “All airlines have rules and regulations. Pilots must be stress-free, and there are specific rules on how many hours they are allowed to fly,” he said. His remarks refer to mandatory flight duty time limitations, which are critical to preventing pilot fatigue—one of the most significant concerns in modern aviation safety.

IndiGo must ensure the safety of passengers’ lives. These rules are not relaxed for any single company. The same rules apply to all airlines,” he added, underscoring that no operator is exempt from following established safety protocols.

The comments come as IndiGo faces mounting scrutiny over multiple flight delays and cancellations attributed to crew shortages and operational challenges. Aviation experts have noted that maintaining adequate rest periods for pilots is essential to prevent errors and uphold safety standards.

Ravi’s statement aligns with broader calls from travellers and aviation stakeholders urging airlines to improve planning and communication during disruptions. His remarks also reflect the expectation that carriers maintain transparency and adhere strictly to guidelines set by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

As flight operations remain under close watch, Ravi emphasised that protecting passengers’ lives and ensuring seamless air travel must remain the highest priority for all airlines.
