Bengaluru, Karnataka: Amid the ongoing language row between Kerala and Karnataka, BJP leader CT Ravi on Sunday emphasised the linguistic rights of Kannada-speaking people residing in Kerala.
Speaking on the issue, Ravi said, “There are people who speak different languages. In Kerala, there are Kannada-speaking people, and under the National Education Policy, everybody has the right to learn any language they want.”
He added that Malayalam should not be forced upon Kannada speakers, highlighting the importance of respecting linguistic diversity and individual choice. Ravi’s remarks come amid tensions over language imposition in border areas between the two states.
The National Education Policy guarantees the right of individuals to choose their language of learning, and Ravi urged authorities to ensure this right is upheld without discrimination or pressure.
The language row has sparked debates and protests in both states, with leaders calling for mutual respect and peaceful resolution to protect the cultural and linguistic identities of all communities involved.
