Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the festival of Pongal, drawing inspiration from Tamil culture, which he described as one of the world’s oldest living civilisations. Extending warm Pongal greetings to the people, the Prime Minister said the festival reflects India’s deep connection with nature, land, and agricultural traditions.

In his message, PM Modi emphasised that India is progressing by drawing strength from its civilisational roots while confidently embracing the future. He underlined that respect for the land, traditions, and cultural heritage has always been at the core of India’s growth story. Pongal, he said, symbolises gratitude to nature, farmers, and the forces that sustain life, values that remain relevant even in modern times.

The Prime Minister praised the enduring spirit of Tamil culture, noting that its language, traditions, literature, and philosophy continue to inspire not just India but the world. He said Tamil civilisation stands as a living example of how ancient wisdom and modern aspirations can coexist harmoniously.

Highlighting the broader message of the festival, PM Modi said Bharat’s journey forward is rooted in respecting its cultural diversity and unity. By honouring traditions like Pongal, India reinforces its commitment to inclusive growth, sustainability, and cultural pride.

Concluding his message, the Prime Minister conveyed his best wishes for happiness, prosperity, and good health, celebrating the shared spirit of Pongal, Tamil heritage, and the timeless values of Bharat.
