Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the Samrat Samprati Museum at Koba Tirth on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, emphasizing the importance of preserving India’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
Museum Dedicated to Jain Heritage and Indian Culture
Addressing a public gathering, the Prime Minister said the museum will serve as a sacred centre showcasing:
- Jain philosophy
- India’s ancient cultural heritage
- Timeless knowledge and traditions
He praised Jain saints for conceptualizing the modern heritage museum to preserve centuries-old wisdom for future generations.
“Samrat Samprati Museum is a heritage of crores of Indians and a centre of Jain philosophy and Indian culture,” he said.
Criticism of Past Neglect of Manuscripts
The Prime Minister noted that previous governments had neglected the preservation of valuable manuscripts. He said the current government is correcting these mistakes through modern initiatives.
‘Gyan Bharatam Mission’ for Manuscript Preservation
Highlighting efforts to safeguard ancient knowledge, PM Modi referred to the Gyan Bharatam Mission, under which:
- Ancient manuscripts are being digitized
- Scientific preservation techniques are being applied
- High-quality scanning and chemical treatments are being used
- Digital archives are being created for long-term access
Lessons from India’s Glorious Past
The Prime Minister invoked the legacy of Samrat Samprati, noting his commitment to:
- Non-violence (Ahimsa)
- Truth and selfless governance
- Promotion of ethical values like non-possession and integrity
He emphasized that India’s history has always promoted knowledge as a free and evolving stream, enriched by saints, thinkers, and spiritual leaders.
Call for 10 National Resolutions
On the occasion, PM Modi urged citizens to adopt ten key pledges:
- Water conservation
- “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (planting trees)
- Cleanliness
- Vocal for Local
- Domestic tourism (Desh Darshan)
- Natural farming
- Healthy lifestyle
- Yoga and sports
- Helping the poor
- Preserving India’s heritage

The Prime Minister also extended greetings on Mahavir Jayanti, bowing to Lord Mahavira and highlighting his teachings of truth, non-violence, compassion, and equality, which remain relevant in modern times.
