Bengaluru: In a significant step toward advancing renewable energy innovation, the government of Karnataka has signed a strategic agreement with institutions from Australia to support the growth of clean energy startups.
Under the agreement, approximately 20 startups will be incubated each year over a period of three years, focusing on key areas such as solar energy, wind power, bioenergy, energy storage, and green fuels.
The collaboration involves prominent organizations including the Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Corporation, University of New South Wales, IIM Bangalore, and the Indian Institute of Science.
As part of the initiative, a dedicated clean energy incubation and innovation centre will be established in Bengaluru. The centre will provide startups with access to funding, technical mentorship, research infrastructure, and international market linkages.
Officials stated that the partnership is expected to strengthen India–Australia cooperation in the clean energy sector, while positioning Karnataka as a key hub for sustainable technology and innovation.
The move aligns with broader efforts to accelerate the transition to renewable energy and foster a robust startup ecosystem in the state.
