PM Modi Calls for Collective Action and Reform at Summit of the Future

Addressing the Summit of the Future in New York, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the importance of unity for global success, stating, “The success of humanity lies in our collective strength, not on the battlefield.” He highlighted that meaningful reforms in global institutions are essential for fostering peace and development worldwide.

Modi declared that “reform is the key to relevance,” pointing to the decision to grant permanent membership to the African Union at the recent New Delhi Summit as a significant milestone in enhancing global governance. He urged nations to work together to modernize institutions to better reflect the realities of today’s world.

In discussing the evolving nature of conflict, Modi acknowledged that while terrorism continues to be a major threat, new challenges are arising in cyber, maritime, and space arenas. He stressed the necessity of aligning global actions with ambitions, asserting, “Global Action must match Global Ambition.”
