Karnataka BJP Chief BY Vijayendra Announces Protests Against Price Hike and Reservation Policy

Date:

Bengaluru, Karnataka – Karnataka BJP President and MLA BY Vijayendra has announced a series of protests in response to the state government’s policies, including its handling of price hikes and the recent decision to provide 4% reservation to Muslims in government contracts. The protests will begin with a demonstration on 2nd April at Freedom Park in Bengaluru, where BJP MLAs and MLCs will voice their opposition to the rising prices affecting the common people.

Vijayendra revealed that from 7th April onwards, the BJP will escalate its protest through a state-wide initiative called the ‘Jana Akrosh Yatra’. “All our MLAs, MPs, and Central ministers will conduct the ‘Jana Akrosh Yatra’ from Mysuru. This yatra will be inaugurated by Central Minister Pralhad Joshi,” he said. The Yatra will focus on addressing the concerns over price hikes and the Karnataka government’s controversial reservation decision.

One of the key issues Vijayendra emphasized was the Karnataka government’s move to provide 4% reservation to Muslims in government contracts, which the BJP has strongly opposed. “We will protest against Karnataka govt for giving 4% reservation to Muslims in government contracts,” Vijayendra stated, criticizing the state government for what he called an “arrogant” approach. He also accused the government of taking undue advantage of its majority to push through policies without consideration for the public’s concerns.

Vijayendra’s statements reflect growing tensions between the ruling Congress government in Karnataka and the opposition BJP, particularly over issues related to economic policies, reservations, and governance. As the protests and Yatra approach, all eyes will be on how these political developments unfold in the lead-up to upcoming elections.
