Bengaluru | The ongoing power struggle within the Karnataka Congress continued to draw sharp reactions on Tuesday, with BJP MLC N Ravikumar launching a pointed attack on the party’s leadership. Commenting on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar’s recent visit to meet AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, Ravikumar questioned the clarity and authority within the Congress hierarchy.
“Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar are going to AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, but he is pointing to the party high command. Is Mallikarjun Kharge not the high command?” he asked, highlighting what he described as confusion and inconsistency within the party’s chain of command.
Ravikumar said the ongoing tussle between the two top leaders has not only exposed deep internal divisions but has also become an embarrassment for the Congress high command. According to him, the unresolved rivalry between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar has hindered governance, affected administrative cohesion, and raised questions about political stability in the state.
He further alleged that the Congress leadership lacks decisiveness, suggesting that Kharge’s inability or unwillingness to assert authority reflects a broader structural weakness within the party. “If the party president himself has to defer decisions upwards, it shows how directionless the Congress has become,” he added.
The BJP MLC claimed that this internal discord is affecting the state government’s performance, stating that the Congress remains preoccupied with power sharing rather than public welfare. Ravikumar asserted that Karnataka deserves strong, unified leadership—something he believes the current government is failing to provide.
