Elevated Metro Walkway Coming to Bengaluru’s Silk Board Junction to Improve Commuter Access

Date:

Bengaluru, April 6: In a major step towards improving last-mile connectivity and pedestrian safety, authorities have announced plans to construct an elevated walkway connecting the metro station to key transit points at Silk Board Junction, one of Bengaluru’s busiest traffic hubs.

The proposed elevated walkway will link the upcoming metro station to nearby bus stops and important junction points, allowing commuters to move safely without navigating heavy traffic at ground level.

Officials said the project is aimed at addressing long-standing issues of congestion and pedestrian safety at Silk Board, which witnesses massive daily traffic from IT corridors such as Electronic City and Outer Ring Road.

The walkway will be integrated with the metro infrastructure, enabling seamless transit for passengers switching between different modes of transport. It is expected to significantly reduce travel time and improve overall commuter convenience.

According to sources, the design will include covered pathways, proper lighting, escalators, and lifts to ensure accessibility for all, including senior citizens and differently-abled individuals.

The initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance urban mobility in Bengaluru by focusing on multi-modal integration and pedestrian-friendly infrastructure.

Once completed, the elevated walkway is expected to ease congestion at ground level and provide a safer, more efficient commuting experience for thousands of daily passengers passing through Silk Board Junction.
