April 2026: In a major boost to regional air connectivity, Akasa Air is set to launch new flight services connecting Gwalior with Delhi and Bengaluru, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced.
New Route to Strengthen Connectivity
The upcoming services will operate on the Gwalior–Delhi–Bengaluru route, along with the return sector Bengaluru–Delhi–Gwalior, enhancing connectivity between central India and key metropolitan hubs.
The move is expected to significantly improve travel options for passengers in the Gwalior-Chambal region.
Improved Travel Frequency
With the addition of Akasa Air flights, air connectivity from Gwalior will increase to six days a week, offering more flexibility and convenience for travellers.
Currently, limited flights operate on select days, and the new services will help bridge that gap.
Boost to the Economy and Opportunities
Scindia said the new route will:
- Enhance business and industrial connectivity
- Support education and employment opportunities
- Improve access to major cities like Delhi and Bengaluru
He emphasised that better air connectivity plays a crucial role in regional economic development and mobility.
Part of Akasa Air’s Expansion Strategy
The launch aligns with Akasa Air’s broader plan to expand its domestic network and strengthen its presence across Indian cities. The airline, which began operations in 2022, continues to grow rapidly with new routes and destinations.
Strengthening Regional Aviation Infrastructure
Officials highlighted that the development reflects ongoing efforts to connect tier-2 cities like Gwalior with major urban centres, making air travel more accessible and efficient.
