Bengaluru 10K Marathon Becomes Powerful Charity Platform, Raises ₹5 Crore

Date:

Bengaluru: In a strong display of community spirit and philanthropy, the TCS World 10K marathon in Bengaluru has already raised over ₹5 crore to support nearly 100 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) across multiple sectors.

The marathon, scheduled to be held on April 26, has emerged as one of the country’s largest charity-driven sporting events, bringing together corporates, running groups, and individual fundraisers for a common cause.

A wide range of organisations have benefited from the initiative, spanning healthcare, education, sports, poverty alleviation, and animal welfare. Among the top contributors, the GoSports Foundation led fundraising efforts with ₹81.9 lakh, followed by Right To Live and United Way Bengaluru, each raising over ₹38 lakh.

In the healthcare category, the Neonates Foundation of India collected ₹33.6 lakh, while the Bangalore Kidney Foundation raised ₹29.5 lakh. In education, CRY (Child Rights and You) topped its segment with ₹23.1 lakh in donations.

Corporate participation also played a significant role, with ASM Technologies emerging as the leading company contributor, raising ₹74.1 lakh, largely in support of sports-related initiatives.

Running communities added to the momentum, with groups like JJ Runners raising ₹6.5 lakh for various causes. Individual fundraisers made a notable impact as well. Usha Baliga stood out by raising ₹29 lakh for the Bangalore Kidney Foundation, continuing her long-standing contribution to social causes.

The event also highlighted inspiring grassroots participation. An 11-year-old fundraiser contributed over ₹1 lakh towards animal welfare, while a visually impaired participant raised funds for elderly care, showcasing inclusivity and dedication.

With over 250 individual fundraisers taking part this year, the marathon reflects a growing culture of “running for a cause”, where fitness meets social impact.
