Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate, dedicate to the nation, and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth over ₹2,700 crore in Puducherry on Sunday at around 11:45 AM, followed by infrastructure launches exceeding ₹4,400 crore in Madurai at about 3:00 PM. He will also address public gatherings at both locations.
In the evening, the Prime Minister is scheduled to offer prayers at the Arulmigu Subramanya Swamy Temple in Tirupparankundram, Madurai.
₹2,700 Crore Development Push in Puducherry
In Puducherry, PM Modi will unveil projects aimed at strengthening infrastructure, expanding civic amenities, promoting industrial growth, enhancing higher education, improving healthcare services, and ensuring sustainable development.

- Launch of e-bus services under the PM e-Bus Scheme
- Inauguration of Integrated Command and Control Centre under the Smart Cities Mission

In Madurai, PM Modi will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for projects worth over ₹4,400 crore aimed at boosting connectivity, reducing travel time, and accelerating regional economic growth.
National Highway Projects
The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for:
- Four-laning of NH-332A (Marakkanam–Puducherry section)
- Four-laning of NH-87 (Paramakudi–Ramanathapuram section)
The Marakkanam–Puducherry upgrade is expected to reduce travel time by nearly 50%, easing congestion and improving access to Mamallapuram, Kalpakkam, and Auroville.
The NH-87 expansion will enhance connectivity to major pilgrimage destinations including Madurai, Rameswaram, and Dhanushkodi, cutting travel time by approximately 40%. The corridor will strengthen multimodal connectivity, linking railways, airports, and ports, while supporting fisheries clusters, SEZs, a mega food park, and textile hubs under the PM Gati Shakti framework.
Railway Infrastructure Boost in Tamil Nadu
Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, PM Modi will inaugurate eight redeveloped railway stations in Tamil Nadu:
- Morappur
- Bommidi
- Srivilliputhur
- Sholavandan
- Manaparai
- Pollachi Junction
- Karaikudi Junction
- Tiruvarur Junction
These stations now feature upgraded buildings, improved accessibility, modern waiting areas, lifts, escalators, enhanced platforms, and Divyang-friendly amenities.
He will also dedicate the Chennai Beach–Chennai Egmore fourth railway line, significantly improving operational efficiency in Chennai’s suburban rail network and benefiting lakhs of daily commuters.
Expansion of FM Broadcasting Services
To strengthen public broadcasting in Tamil Nadu, the Prime Minister will inaugurate three new Akashvani FM relay transmitters in Kumbakonam, Yercaud, and Vellore, enhancing regional coverage and ensuring uninterrupted FM services.

The combined initiatives in Puducherry and Madurai underscore the government’s focus on infrastructure expansion, improved urban mobility, industrial development, enhanced rail connectivity, and public service delivery.
