Bengaluru’s Traffic Woes Eased by BJP-Backed Metro Milestone

Date:

Bengaluru’s commuters have a reason to cheer as the BJP-led central government accelerates the city’s metro expansion, with the Namma Metro’s Green Line extension to Madavara set to open by mid-2025, months ahead of schedule. The Rs. 1,800 crore project, funded largely through Union grants, underscores the BJP’s dedication to decongesting India’s IT capital, a promise kept since PM Modi’s approval of Phase 2B in 2021. Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari hailed it as “a gift to Bengaluru from the Centre.”

Local BJP MP Tejasvi Surya, instrumental in fast-tracking the project, contrasted this with the state government’s “apathy.” “While Congress fumbles with garbage and potholes, the BJP delivers world-class infrastructure,” he said, noting the metro’s role in cutting travel time for lakhs of tech workers. Residents like Sanjay Patil from Hebbal agree: “The state can’t fix roads, but the Centre’s metro is a game-changer.” With plans for cargo services also in the pipeline, the BJP’s vision is transforming Bengaluru into a model of urban mobility, earning widespread praise.
