INS Sudarshini Arrives at Malta’s Valletta Port During Lokayan-26 Global Voyage

The INS Sudarshini of the Indian Navy reached the historic port of Valletta, marking an important stop in its global maritime expedition Lokayan-26.

The visit highlights the deep maritime ties between India and Malta, and forms a key leg of the vessel’s ambitious 22,000 nautical mile global voyage.

Before arriving in Valletta, the ship successfully crossed the Suez Canal and recently made a port call at Alexandria.

Commanding Officer Meets Indian High Commissioner

Following its arrival, the ship’s Commanding Officer met Rachita Bhandari to discuss the role of the Indian Navy in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

The High Commissioner noted that the presence of INS Sudarshini in Malta reflects the vision of MAHASAGAR, symbolizing stronger maritime cooperation and people-to-people connections.

Professional Engagements and Community Outreach

During its stay in Malta, the crew of INS Sudarshini will engage in professional interactions and courtesy visits with the Armed Forces of Malta, aimed at strengthening mutual trust and cooperation.

Several community outreach activities are also planned, including a guided “Open Ship” event for school students and members of the Indian diaspora in Malta.

Global Voyage Started from Kochi

INS Sudarshini is currently in the second month of its global voyage, which began on January 20, 2026 from Kochi.

After completing its visit to Malta, the ship will sail towards the French coast to participate in the renowned Escale à Sète, where it will represent India alongside several historic tall ships from around the world.
