Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday described the Union Budget as historic and visionary, stating that it reflects the aspirations of 140 crore Indians and lays a strong foundation for a developed India by 2047. Addressing the nation after the presentation of the Budget, the Prime Minister said it embodies women-led development, youth empowerment, economic reforms, and inclusive growth.
Congratulating Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for presenting the Budget for the ninth consecutive time, PM Modi said it marked a new record and symbolised continuity and stability in economic governance. He termed the Budget “a highway of opportunities” that transforms present-day aspirations into reality while strengthening the pillars of India’s future.
The Prime Minister said the Budget reinforces the vision of trust-based governance and a human-centric economy. While maintaining focus on reducing the fiscal deficit and controlling inflation, it also ensures a balance between high capital expenditure and high economic growth. “India is moving forward on the reform express, and this Budget gives it renewed energy and momentum,” he said.
Calling it a “youth power Budget,” PM Modi said it carries the thinking, dreams, determination, and speed of India’s young population. He noted that the provisions will create leaders, innovators, and creators across multiple sectors. Initiatives such as the creation of medical hubs, promotion of the orange economy including audio-visual and gaming industries, tourism expansion, and the Khelo India Mission will open new avenues for employment and entrepreneurship.
Highlighting India’s growing global role, the Prime Minister said the country is not content with being the fastest-growing major economy and is firmly committed to becoming the world’s third-largest economy at the earliest. He noted that recent major trade agreements would bring maximum benefits to Indian youth and small and medium enterprises, supported by key steps outlined in the Budget.
PM Modi said the Budget provides a clear roadmap to accelerate the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat missions. Strong support has been extended to sunrise sectors such as biopharma, the Semiconductor Mission 2.0, electronic component manufacturing, rare earth corridors, critical minerals, textiles, and high-tech tool manufacturing. The focus on strengthening MSMEs, he said, will empower them to expand from local to global markets.
On infrastructure, the Prime Minister highlighted major initiatives including dedicated freight corridors, expansion of inland waterways, high-speed rail corridors, development of Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, and the promotion of municipal bonds to strengthen urban economies.
Emphasising human capital, PM Modi said citizens are India’s greatest asset. He highlighted investments in skill development, scalability, and sustainability. Women-led self-help groups, agriculture, dairy, fisheries, and rural entrepreneurship have received strong support, ensuring balanced regional and social development.
Describing the Budget as ambitious, aspirational, and compassionate, PM Modi congratulated the Finance Minister and her team for presenting a future-ready Budget focused on the welfare of villages, the poor, and farmers.
