In a major step toward improving living conditions for economically weaker sections, the Karnataka government has provided house keys to 1,000 beneficiaries in Chittapur under a housing initiative aimed at fulfilling the dream of owning a home for poor families.
The housing complex has been developed over 18 acres of land at a cost of ₹54.70 crore, offering modern residential facilities for families previously living in slum areas.
Housing for Families Across Different Social Groups
The newly constructed housing project will benefit families from several communities, including:
- 650 families from Scheduled Castes (SC)
- 25 families from Scheduled Tribes (ST)
- 275 families from Other Backward Classes (OBC)
- 50 families from the General category
The project aims to help slum residents shift to clean, safe, and well-planned residential environments, improving their quality of life.
Modern Housing With Essential Facilities
The residential complex includes G+1 housing units built by the Karnataka Slum Development Board, designed to provide comfortable and dignified living spaces for low-income families.
The project offers several essential facilities, including:
- Proper electricity connections
- Reliable water supply
- Wide internal roads
- Drainage systems
- Basic civic infrastructure
Officials said these amenities will help residents lead healthier lives and provide a better environment for children.
Boost to Confidence and Future Opportunities
Authorities believe that living in a clean and well-organized housing environment will positively impact the lives of residents, especially children from economically weaker families, by boosting their confidence and improving their overall development.
Focus on Chittapur’s Development
The housing initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to improve living standards and promote inclusive development in Chittapur.
Officials said development work in the region will continue with a focus on uplifting the lives of people who have supported the region’s growth, ensuring better infrastructure and opportunities for the community.
